OPEN-RANK POSITION, DRAMATIC ARTS, BROCK UNIVERSITY
The Department of Dramatic Arts at the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts, Brock University, is seeking applications for an open rank position (seniority and appointment type (tenure-track or tenured) to be determined at the time of appointment) with expertise in any area of theatre scholarship and/or theatre practice.
These areas could include (but may not be limited to) drama in education, applied theatre, theatre history, contemporary theatre/performance studies, acting, directing, design, and theatre production. A combination of experience and expertise across areas of scholarship and practice is particularly desirable. If the successful candidate is hired at the rank of Associate or Full professor, they will also fulfil the role of Departmental Chair for a minimum three-year term, beginning at the time of their appointment. The salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications. The position is subject to final budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will teach a range of courses in the department. Our approach to teaching and learning emphasizes praxis, that is, the integration of theory and practice, and all of our course offerings combine practical work with background research and theoretical engagement. It is expected that the successful candidate will engage with students, colleagues, community groups, and/or the broader theatre and theatre scholarship communities through research and creative/critical activities. The individual will participate in the full range of departmental activities, including departmental production activities from Mainstage offerings to community networking and production. Applicants must have a PhD and a proven research record that will include elements such as publications, grants, research collaborations and participation in collegial networks. Administrative experience in University contexts and a track record of successful teaching in post-secondary institutions will be assets. Skills in a secondary area featuring interdisciplinary research and practice are also of value.

ASSOCIATE DEAN, FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS, BROCK UNIVERSITY
The Faculty of Humanities seeks to appoint an Associate Dean, Fine & Performing Arts. The three year term will begin on July 1st, 2021, or as soon afterward as is practicable, and is renewable.
The Associate Dean, Fine & Performing Arts, will manage many aspects of the department of fine and performing art and will provide general oversight of the programmes and activities in the Marilyn I Walker School of Fine & Performing Arts. This includes the working relationship with the building supervisor and the Facilities Management team at the Marilyn I Walker School of Fine & Performing Arts, as well as Brock’s on-site security office. They will ensure an optimal relationship with the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre and promote the academic and creative outcomes (between 50 and 70 events annually) across the School, including representing the Marilyn I Walker School of Fine & Performing Arts and attend its many functions, speak or communicate on its behalf when necessary, interact with the media, and generally help build and reinforce established relationships within the University and the community at large. In a broader sense, they will also represent the Faculty of Humanities on committees concerned with the fine and performing arts, including recruitment, retention, academic integrity and orientation.
With the Faculty Financial Manager, the Associate Dean will monitor proposed course offerings in the Departments and Centres located in the Marilyn I Walker School of Fine & Performing Arts, taking into account historical enrolment in courses and their viability. They will also work with the Dean and Departments and Centres in the Marilyn I Walker School of Fine & Performing Arts to promote articulation agreements and collaborative programmes with other institutions and with other units at Brock. Coordinating the Marilyn I Walker School of Fine & Performing Arts presence at Fall Preview Day, Open House, and the Ontario Universities Fair will also be among other duties.
The Associate Dean, Fine & Performing Arts, will share the role of Acting Dean with the Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies and the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Student Affairs and Curriculum, when the Dean is unavailable. The Associate Dean, Fine & Performing arts will also have other duties as assigned by the Dean of Humanities or a designate.
The Associate Dean, Fine & Performing Arts will possess academic qualifications that merit appointment as Associate Professor or Professor in one of the Departments located in the Marilyn I Walker School of Fine & Performing Arts. They should also have successful administrative experience in an academic and or arts setting. In addition, they should have demonstrated ability to work collegially and effectively with others, including students, faculty members, staff, and senior administration.
