Lecturer in Theatre

Applications are invited for a permanent position for a Lecturer in Theatre, to begin in June 2018. The appointee will have the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant programme in Theatre at Victoria, and to other academic and creative communities in Wellington, Aotearoa/New Zealand.

The Theatre Programme aims to appoint a dynamic junior scholar who complements the current staff’s expertise and who can contribute to teaching and research in one or more of the following areas: critical theory, practice as/practice-led research, children and young person’s theatre, scenography, costume design, multi-media and inter-medial performance, Indigenous/diasporic theatre, puppetry, dance or musical theatre. The ability to teach large introductory courses and to direct student productions is essential.

The successful candidate will have a PhD or MFA in Theatre (or equivalent professional experience), a record of scholarly productivity, and the capacity to teach a broad range of introductory and advanced Theatre courses, as well as supervise MA and PhD candidates.

Applications should include a letter of interest addressing teaching and research goals and a curriculum vitae with the name of three referees. A writing sample, teaching evaluations, and a research plan will be required for the next phase of the process but can be submitted initially.
