This event opens with an excerpt of the play No Knowledge College about four Black graduate students, follows with a conversation with three established Black theatre artists and concludes with an audience question and answer period. All aim to ask the question: What can Black theatre do to advance Black liberation in the 21st century?
On September 24, there will be a 20-minute staged-reading of No Knowledge College.

Black And Free Research-Creation Project:
For centuries, Black people in Africa, the Caribbean, Europe and North America have used performance, theatre, visual art, music and other means of expression to describe nuances of Black people’s lives in the public and private spheres that influence everyday life. Building on the work of Black studies scholarship and artistic practices, the objective of Dr. Naila Keleta-Mae’s Black And Free Research-Creation Project is to examine, through scholarship and art, what Black art and culture from different parts of the world reveal about blackness and freedom in the 21st century.
