The Robert G. Lawrence Prize was established in 1995 by the Association to honour the memory and contribution of a valued member and friend. The prize recognizes the research of an emerging scholar who has presented an outstanding paper at the Association’s yearly conference. The award of $200.00 is supported by the generous donations of Mrs Robert G. Lawrence.
The award is open to graduate students and emerging scholars who recently completed their PhD (less than five years) and who present a paper in either French or English at the annual CATR/ACRT conference.
The award is made on the basis of the paper as presented at the conference, and the assessors consider the depth and detail of the text and its research sources as well as the quality of its presentation (delivery, illustrative media, etc.). Shortlisted candidates for the prize are contacted after the conference with an invitation to submit a copy of the paper presentation, complete with references, to the Lawrence committee chair by email attachment. The paper presentation must be submitted within five days of the email invitation.
If you are an emerging scholar who has not previously won the prize and would like to have your paper at the 2018 conference considered, please email Natalie Alvarez, Chair of the Lawrence Committee, at nalvarez@brocku.ca by Monday, May 21, 2018, to ensure members of the adjudication committee will be present at your panel.

L’Association a institué la bourse Robert G. Lawrence en 1995 pour honorer la mémoire et l’apport d’un de ses membres et amis les plus estimés. Ce prix récompense le travail d’un jeune chercheur ou d’une jeune chercheuse dont la communication au colloque annuel s’est démarquée. D’une valeur de 200 $, le prix est offert grâce au généreux concours de madame Lawrence.
Le concours s’adresse aux étudiantes et étudiants des cycles supérieurs, ainsi qu’aux jeunes chercheuses et chercheurs ayant obtenu leur doctorat il y a moins de cinq ans, et qui présentent un article, en français ou en anglais, au colloque de l’ACRT/CATR de cette année.
La bourse est attribuée en fonction de la recherche telle que présentée au colloque. Le jury évaluera la profondeur et la précision du texte et de ses sources de recherche, de même que la qualité de la présentation (rendu, support visuel, etc.). Les candidates et candidats qui feront l’objet d’une présélection pour la bourse recevront, après le colloque, une invitation à soumettre, par courriel, une copie de leur communication avec bibliographie à la présidente du comité Lawrence. La communication devra être soumise au plus tard cinq jours après l’envoi de ladite invitation.
