2024 Lawrence Prize Recipient
The CATR Lawrence Prize Committee is pleased to announce the recipient for the 2024 Robert G. Lawrence Prize: Alessandro Simari for the crafting and delivery of the paper “The Usher is Watching and Working.”
Scholarship & Grants Recipients
The CATR Scholarship & Grants Committee is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024 Scholarships (Heather McCallum Scholarship & Robert G Lawrence Scholarship) and Denis Salter Grants.
The 2024 Heather McCallum Scholarship is awarded to Atefeh Zargarzadeh for “Unveiling Power Dynamics and Identity Negotiations: Exilic Middle Eastern Artists in the Canadian Intercultural Theatre Landscape” and Margarita (Rita) Rebetskaia for a choreography project that integrates spoken and recorded text into contemporary dance.
The 2024 Robert G. Lawrence Scholarship is awarded to Marilo Nuñez for the project “The Year I Learned to Write Plays: Writing Race, The Fornes Method and Dismantling the Aristotelian Foundation of Writing Pedagogy.”
We are pleased to award three Denis Salter Grants for 2024. The projects receiving the grants include:
o Tania Cañas – Live digital performance exchange project that brings together 10 performance artists who have lived experience of forced displacement and now based in Canada and Australia
o Alessandro Simari – Support for 2025-2026 conference “On Theatre & Transport”
o Jenn Boulay – e-initiatives for graduate students, an ongoing focus of the field and CATR

Le comité du prix Lawrence de l’ACRT est heureux d’accorder le prix Robert G. Lawrence 2024 à Alessandro Simari pour sa communication « The Usher is Watching and Working ».

C’est avec plaisir que le comité des prix et distinctions annonce les noms des récipiendaires de la bourse Heather McCallum, de la bourse Robert G. Lawrence et du prix Denis Salter en 2024.
Le prix Heather McCallum va à Atafeh Zargarzadeh pour « Unveiling Power Dynamics and Identity Negotiations: Exilic Middle Eastern Artists in the Canadian Intercultural Theatre Landscape » et à Margarita (Rita) Rebetskaia pour son projet de chorégraphie alliant danse contemporaine, parole et texte enregistré.

Trois prix Denis Salter sont attribués aux personnes et aux projets suivants :
o Tania Cañas pour son projet d’échange de spectacles numériques en direct. Ce projet réunit dix artistes ayant vécu des déplacements forcés vivant présentement au Canada et en Australie.
o Alessandro Simari pour le colloque « On Theatre & Transport » prévu en 2025-2026.
o Jenn Boulay pour des initiatives numériques à l’attention des étudiants et des étudiantes aux cycles supérieurs, un groupe clé dans le domaine et dans l’ACRT.
