THE PXR CONFERENCE, hosted by Single Thread and Electric Company Theatre, celebrates the evolution of live performance in virtual, augmented and mixed realities. Now in its 3rd year, this national event brings Canadian creators together using a virtual reality platform to share best practices for working within these new media. The IBPOC Fellowship is part of PXR’s commitment to hold space for IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, People of Colour) Theatremakers. This initiative supports select youth and emerging artists across Canada with a free VR Headset, access to the PXR Conference, a cash award, and ten hours of paid mentorship in XR creation. PXR’s sponsors intersect with the Fellowship program by offering funding, mentorship, networking opportunities, and project development for the IBPOC fellows. The goal of this program is to foster a community of artists with the tools to create ground-breaking XR content, and to showcase their future creations. PXR recognizes the historic frameworks that have supported the oppression of marginalized, racialized or stigmatized communities, and commit to forefronting diverse voices within the heart of what we do. To apply, fill out the online form by October 13th, 2022. Further Questions? Join an IBPOC Fellowship Info Session Sept 16th and Sept 23rd 4pm EST/ 1pm PT at the form here.
